In fact, the warmest article of clothing I packed was my cotton track-suit coupled with a poncho, and I had no idea sleeping pads even existed. Craving a little adventure and needing to do some self-exploration, I thru-hiked theĚppalachian Trail with very little experience. See you on the trail.My running journey began as an 800-meter runner at UC-Santa Barbara, where I quickly realized that my spirit was not on the track, but in the mountains. It may just be running, but running can mean so much when backed by the community. I want to be a community member the next generation of trail runners can look up to. But I also want to grow in the sport as more than just an athlete. I am here to race big, take risks, and see how far my feet can take me. Ultra trail running shaped my adult life.Īnd I am not done yet. ![]() I was able to pave a career path for myself in the sport when I didn’t see any already paved paths that suited me. It gave me something to work towards and a reason to try hard unabashedly, which takes a huge amount of vulnerability and confidence. I found a home when it felt like I had none. I grew up in the sport of ultra trail running, competing in my first 50k at just twenty years old. Sometimes it can feel a little batshit crazy. While that seems to be part of my charm, it can also be really difficult to find stability. Some days, I feel stressed that I can’t pin myself down. A runner, a low-key helicopter dog mom to my four-year-old heeler mix, Shirley (but getting better), a writer (but ironically, a terrible speller), former kindergarten teacher, performing arts enthusiast, dreamer, and doer of many, many things.
